With possibly the world's highest commercially rafted waterfall, 6/7 metres {21feet}, the Kaituna is a white water enthusiast's dream come true. Flowing through an extremely steep and narrow canyon, in 50 minutes you will paddle 14 awesome drops, including two waterfalls and some great rapids.

Rangitaiki Rafting


A great first-time river. Exciting long, bouncy whitewater larger rapids like Geoff’s Joy, Pop Up, and Tautika near the start of the paddle. A quiet stretch in the middle, ideal for swimming/floating followed by fun rapids through to the finish.

Departs: 11.30am (Other times by arrangement)

Wairoa Rafting


Some of New Zealand's finest whitewater rapids like the 'Rollercoaster' 'Mothers Nightmare' and the 'Waterfall' provide big drops as the river cascades through a boulder-strewn rock canyon. Due to irregular dam releases, the Wairoa is available only on these days – please click on document below.

Rangitaiki River family trip. With the put in below the Anawhenua falls, we float/paddle/drift through a scenic gorge with beautiful waterfalls cascading down through tree covered sheer rock faces. Grade 2, ideal for a fun family day out.

Safety is our primary concern. However, any river trip is not a Disneyland ride and without some risk.

Kaituna Cascades reserves the right to refuse any person or cancel any trip for whatever reason. Kaituna Cascades cannot be held responsible for personal injury or equipment loss or damage. Any person thought to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be refused passage and no refund will be given.

Our guides come mostly from a wildwater kayaking background; their experience enables them to safely assess river conditions for our clients safety. They have a very professional attitude to rafting/kayaking, great personalities and are fun to be on the water with!

All guides are registered and trained to the standards of the appropriate authorities.

Kaituna Cascades actively supports some of New Zealand's best Whitewater competitors in representing New Zealand at National and International competitions.
